27 week update

This week the little man is about the size of a head of cauliflower and weighs about 2 pounds. If only that was all the weight I had managed to gain! It doesn’t make a girl feel good when her doctor says that her overall weight gain is fine, but she might not want to have another 7lb month. Oops! I guess all the chocolate and ice cream cravings are finally catching up. Too bad I don’t have cravings for cauliflower – ick.

I had a wonderful pregnancy for the first and second trimesters, and now that I’m heading into the third, I’m hopeful my good fortune will continue. However, I have noticed that a lot of things aren’t as easy as they have been before, such as bending over. Tim has been sweet about it and will happily pick things up that require awkward movements and groans for me to accomplish on my own, but I still haven’t convinced him to paint my toenails or tie my shoes – the nerve. I guess I’ll just have to treat myself to pedicure and spend the rest of the summer in flip flops.

We have our last childbirth preparation class tomorrow night, which has been wonderful. Judging by his lack of interest in reading any baby books, I wasn’t sure if Tim would take much interest in the class, but he surprised me and has been soaking it all in. I am so lucky to have such a caring and compassionate husband and I know he will be wonderful in the delivery room.
